Our History

The town of Los Gatos was established in 1887. Los Gatos had its own small cemetery located on the outskirts of town. By the end of the 1880's all of the spaces had been sold so it became necessary to find a new site for the town cemetery.
In 1889 sixteen citizens formed the Los Gatos Cemetery Association. Fourteen acres were purchased for the new town cemetery and remains were moved from the original town cemetery and re-interred in the new cemetery. The cemetery remained under the control of the Cemetery Association until it was sold in 1962. At that time the cemetery was renamed Los Gatos Memorial Park. The property was expanded to the thirty acres. Beautiful gardens were designed with mature trees and shrubs throughout. Some of the trees planted in 1889 still grace the park today.
Darling & Fischer Mortuaries purchased Los Gatos Memorial Park in 1978 to provide burial, cremation and permanent memorialization for the Los Gatos, San Jose and surrounding communities. Los Gatos Memorial Park serves all faiths. Many pioneering or notable individuals from our area are buried or inurned in the cemetery. You will always find Los Gatos Memorial Park a peaceful place to remember loved ones.
